Resilient Communities, Schools and Families Partnership – May 2023
May is always a momentous time, with the end of the school year and the legislative session, as well as monthly celebrations and recognitions such as May Day, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Month. Many community organizations and schools are in a sprint to summer, which creates an opportunity for reflection and resetting.
We also recognize the devastation Typhoon Mawar has recently caused on Guam. With cultural kinship with this island community and connections between many friends and family here in Hawaii, we encourage our partners to send any support we can to bolster the resilience of those who are struggling. The Red Cross or Guam Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster are some good options.
