A senior at Hamilton College and a 2023 graduate of Molokai High School, Mele is a youth organizer and policy advocate passionate about uplifting youth voices in the policymaking process.
Born and raised across Maui and Molokai and a product of Ka Papahana Kaiapuni until ninth grade, she has worked as a Youth Advocate with HawaiiKidsCAN since high school, supporting youth organizing efforts and the Hawaiʻi-Ireland Island Community Youth Advocacy Exchange.
She currently serves as Legislative Lead of the Hawaiʻi State Youth Commission, where she coordinates bill drafting, testimony development, and cross-sector collaboration on youth-identified issues. She has held policy internships at the county, state, and federal levels, deepening her focus on housing justice and education equity, which she views as deeply interconnected, and is especially passionate about advancing both for the communities she hails from as well as across Hawaiʻi.
