Jill began her career as a 2nd grade teacher in Washington Heights, New York City. She returned to her home community of Hawaiʻi and practiced law at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, LLP for seven years before returning to the education sector to merge her experience in advocacy with her belief in education as a key lever for transforming life outcomes and strengthening communities. She led the Teach For America Hawaiʻi region for 18 years, working alongside the Hawaiʻi Department of Education and community organizations to advance outcomes for all keiki. Under her leadership, the Teach For America network grew from 50 corps members to over 650 corps members and alumni in Hawaiʻi. She now works to oversee the 42-person Executive Director team and support regional leaders to optimize organizational systems and maximize Teach For America’s contribution to impact in local communities across the country. Jill also serves as a Commissioner on the Hawaiʻi State Public Charter School Commission, where she works to support high-quality charter schools in Hawaiʻi.
