The greatest challenge currently faced by Hawaii’s children is accessing the opportunities that will prepare them for high-wage careers that enable them to continue living in and contributing to the state, despite the rising cost-of-living. Strengthening the educational opportunities our children are currently surrounded by and creating new ones where they are missing is a call-to-action for all of us who call Hawaii home.

That belief is at the heart of our work at HawaiiKidsCAN, and it is what drives the second edition of the Survey of Educational Opportunity in Hawaii. Developed in partnership with 50CAN and Edge Research, this updated survey captures how families are experiencing the education system now, while also allowing us to see where views have shifted since the last edition, published in November 2024.
