When folks think of “school” and “learning” it is a common thought usually structured by classrooms, textbooks, and students as passive recipients of knowledge. We believe this is a pretty limited way of looking at how learning happens. In fact, learning can happen all across our communities, where teachers come from all backgrounds, outside of four walls and students “learn by doing”.

The Hawaii Education Innovation Showcase is a way to help elevate the common definitions of education. Technological advancements have made it easier than ever for people to access knowledge, share resources, and activate networks. The same opportunities exist when it comes to innovation in education, and families are organically piloting new strategies around unbundling education, fostering self-reliance outside of school systems, and utilizing online and community-based networks and resources to chart their version of education’s bottom-up future. We are proud to be supporting the first Hawaii Education Innovation Showcase as a way to highlight real innovations being driven and accessed by local Hawaii families, and help connect these resources to parents looking for “out-of-the-box” personalized learning opportunities.
