HawaiiKidsCAN wants to make it easier than ever for community members to support our priority measures on behalf of kids. This sign-on form makes it easy to support these priorities via joint testimony, as we will add the list of co-signers to HawaiiKidsCAN’s official testimony. You will only need to sign-on to each measure once, unless amendments lead to significant changes.
While we still encourage you to submit your own individual testimony, we know that life can get busy, so we hope this helps!
Please contact erica@hawaiikidscan.org if you have any questions or need technical support.
Priority 1: Dyslexia Screening (HB673 / SB1001 and SB421)
Requires all public schools to implement universal screenings for students in kindergarten through third grade to identify and support students who are at risk of dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Requires the provision of professional learning opportunities for teachers around implementing structured literacy instruction.
Priority 2: Data Sharing (HB665 / SB742)
Establishes a working group to create a permanent cross-agency data sharing structure (i.e., a statewide longitudinal data system). This data sharing system would allow state agencies to link education and workforce data from K-12 through career, enabling better tracking of the impact of workforce development programs.
